As the number of places where electric vehicles (EVs) can be charged continues to grow, people are trading in their inefficient vehicles for money and energy saving plug-in electric ones. California now has more than 100,000 plug in electric vehicles traveling its roads and highways. Through the collaborative effort of the Monterey Bay Electric Vehicle Alliance (MBEVA), a number of forward thinking agencies and individuals in our region have lead the way to develop a network of EV charging stations to reduce the “range anxiety” of EV owners. This network of over 80 charging stations in our region serves local residents and commuters as well as visitors from throughout California.
Where can I charge my electric vehicle?
The locations of electric vehicle charging locations in Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito counties can be found online at PlugShare or via their app for Android and iOS phones. The City of Santa Cruz has installed 13 spaces with electric vehicle charging stations for public use, for more information, please see their website.

Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District (MBUAPCD)
The regional public agency responsible for air monitoring, permitting, enforcement, long-range air quality planning, regulatory development, education and public information activities related to air pollution. The Air District has been a leader in promoting the adoption of clean air vehicles in this area through funding fleet conversions to electric vehicles and funding installation of electric vehicle charging stations.

A national non-profit organization, with an active local chapter, formed in 1967 to promote the use of electrical vehicles as a viable transportation alternative that is efficient, economical and ecological.
Plug-In America
A chapter of the Electric Auto Association, Plug In America is a separate California non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation.
