Slipout repair in Brookdale to Result in Two Intermitten Overnight Closures on State Route 9 Beginning Tomorrow Evening
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY– Caltrans will conduct two intermittent overnight closures on Hwy. 9 at the Brookdale slip-out on Wednesday, May 16 and Thursday, May 17, from 9 pm until 5 am. These closures are necessary so that falsework can be installed for a new viaduct. Motorists will be held in place intermittently for 45 minutes during this roadwork.
The purpose of this construction project is to repair the slip out from last winter by constructing a soldier pile wall and side hill viaduct. The first phase of drilling soldier piles has been completed.
Electronic message boards and signs will be posted to alert motorists of this roadwork. Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route during this roadwork.
The contractor for this $4,000,000 construction project is Gordon Ball Construction of Concord, CA. This project is expected to be complete in the summer of 2018.
Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.
