Overnight Full Closure of Hwy 9 in Brookdale Fri-Sat

Last updated January 6, 2018 at 7:00 am | Posted January 4, 2018 at 11:14 am

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY– Caltrans will conduct a full overnight closure of Hwy. 9 in Brookdale on Friday, Jan. 5 from 11:55 pm until 5 am. This closure is necessary to perform tree work near the relocation of Pacific Gas and Electric utility lines where the roadway was damaged.

The purpose of this project is to repair the slip-out from last winter by constructing a soldier pile wall and a side hill viaduct. The first phase of drilling soldier piles is done while the second phase, completing a soldier pile wall and construction of a viaduct, will take place after the relocation of these utility lines.

Electronic message boards and signs will be posted to alert motorists of this roadwork, closure and detour.

The contractor for this $4 million construction project is Gordon Ball Construction of Concord, CA. It is scheduled to be complete this summer.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.
