SANTA CRUZ– Overnight construction is underway on a shoulder widening and wall installation project on a ½ mile section of Highway 17 from just north of the Hwy. 1/17 separation to just south of the Pasatiempo Overcrossing/El Rancho Drive, Caltrans officials announced today.

Electronic message boards will be activated to advise travelers about this construction project, who can expect delays of up to 15 minutes. Roadwork is expected to be complete in Summer of 2020, weather permitting.
This shoulder widening and wall construction project is necessary for the safety of the traveling public and the preservation of the roadway.
The contractor for this $5.3 million project is Granite Rock Company of San Jose, CA.
